Can I go on a tourist L, then go to Hong kong to apply for my annual work visa for main land PRC?

I am a UK citizen looking to teach at an international school in in Tianjin. I am planning to travel main land the month before.

Hi, you are suggested to apply for a work Z directly. It is ok for use to enter and travel one month before.
