CNY is the official acronym for the currency. It stands for Chinese Yuan Renminbi. RMB is short for the last part, Renminbi. I always check www.xe.com for up to date conversion rates before departing. It's good to know in the event you must have money converted. The conversion rate may vary depending on your location and the service provider.
Side note: While internet access is prevalent in cities, sites you are used to having easy access to like banks and social networking are often blocked.
