About:China Visa Application in UK

I'm thinking of taking the train from Hanoi to Hong Kong. Which visa would I need?

The train from Hanoi to Hong Kong takes 3 days with changes are Nanning, and Guangzhou then into Hong Kong. Would this need a transit G or a single entry tourist L? Many thanks.

As far as I know, you need to apply for a single entry tourist L in advance before you enter China.
