About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Korea - Shanghai - New Zealand

Hi! I will fly from Seoul to Shanghai in July then on to New Zealand. I want to make use of the visa free status to stay in Shanghai for two nights. My question is, do I put in a 'transit permit request' as I check in to fly to Shanghai from Seoul?
Thank you in advance.

Yes, you are right. As I know, you will need to fill a form so that the airline will send your information to the airport. The transit permit will be issued upon arrival.
