Is true Han Chinese used to wear long hair and beards. What was the significance of this?

Yes, they wore long hair, both female and male. They considered that their hairs were given by their parents and anyone has no right to cut that, or it will be an action of being unfilial. But I am not cler about the beard thing.11

Hair and every part of body are given by parents, so suicidal is a shame in China. As to the beard thing, adult male should keep beard to show people that he's a qualified man.5
