Cruise ship in port one day in Shanghai for the day is visa required for NZ passport person?

Yes, you need to apply for a Chinese tourist visa in advance if you are visiting by cruise.

Hi Kyle, Do you know if this applies to Indian passport holders as well?Just cruising through for the day , not embarking or disembarking in Shanghai....

Generally, if you stay less than 24 hours, you are eligible for the 24 hour free visa transit as long as your next destination after Shanghai should be a third country (different from China and the last destination country before Shanghai). If your itinerary is not feasible, it is better to apply for a visa in advance.
