How does the 60% Sharing rule work for Beijing taxi

You write: " If two or more passengers share one cab, one only need to pay 60% of the original fare." Does this mean that 1st passenger pays 100% and 2nd 60% of total amopunt, or do both pay 30% each?

If you share a taxi with the other who has the same destination with you, both of you only need to pay 60% of the total price.
If you have different destinations, the first passenger need to pay 60% of sharing distance's taxi fare. The second passenger need to pay 60% of sharing distance's taxi fare and the taxi fare that he or she take alone.
Hope the explaination is clear enough for you.

Following up on the question about sharing and the 60% faire - does that only apply when the people are not traveling together? For example, if I am traveling with my 2 daughters is the cab fare per person or for the trip.
