Yanji to Changbaishan

I am flying from Beijing to Yanji later this month (June 2013). My plan is to go from Yanji to Changbaishan by public transportation. Do you have any recommendations about how to do this? I've read about buses, trains, and taxis, but don't have a definitive sense of the most reliable way to get around. Several of my Chinese friends have expressed their concern that it's a dangerous and difficult drive from Yanji to Changbaishan, so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

From Yanji, you can find buses to reach Erdaobaihe Town. The buses can be taken at Yanji Northeast Asia Bus Station and the timetable is 06:40, 08:00, 10:10, 12:20 and 14:30. The bus takes around 3.5 to 4 hours to reach Erdaobaihe Town. Upon reaching that town, you can take a taxi to reach Changbaishan attraction and the taxi fare is around 60RMB.
It is not suggested to drive on your own.
