About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Thai and French passport transit to Kunming

Hi
I hold a French passport and my son a Thai passport. We are flying to Kunming and then Vientiane (Laos), staying in Kunming for about 4 hours in transit. All tickets booked and confirmed. Do we need a visa?

Yanni, you didn't mention where from do you come to Kunming and this is very important information. Assuming that you will arrive from Australia, since you have mentioned that you are from Australia, both of you don't need any kind of visa because you will be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit.

You will print out your tickets and bring those printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in Australia that you are traveling to Vientiane via Kunming using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short check, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Kunming, you will cross a couple of formalities and after that you will just wait for your flight to Vientiane on the designated boarding gate. Please, just inform yourself at check-in in Australia whether your luggage is tagged all the way to Vientiane.
