About:China Tourist Visa

We have not solidified our hotel arrangements yet. Do we have to list all hotels & exact dates?

My American son lives in Beijing right now. We will be staying with him in his apartment for the first few days of our trip, but then plan to travel for several weeks after that, utilizing sleeper trains for some of the overnights. We have not made hotel arrangments anywhere yet. Can I just list my son's apartment address and phone number in Section 2.5 of the application form?

Would Section 2.8 and 2.9 of the Visa Application be applicable to me?

Yes, your son's address is enough if you will stay in his place. But make sure ask for an invitation letter from him and copies of his visa/residence permit for application. Hotel bookings are not required then, but better not mention your travel purpose. Once you get the visit L, you can travel as you like. For section 2.8, you can put N/A there. But fill again your son's contact information to the section 2.9.
