Registering with Police

I will be staying with friend's in Shanghai during my 48 hour visit, so will need to register with police. Could you please outline the procedure to do this, and whether I will need to speak Chinese to do so?

Hi, you can ask your friend to do this, or you can visit the police station together. Your passport, your friend's address and contacts are enough.
