About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Registering

Hi I’m currently in China for the 144 hours transit free visit and hopping between places within the zone. Some of the hotels I’m staying at doesn’t know anything about the 144 hour visa so when I tell them to register me they have no idea what I’m talking about. They have a copy of my passport though. Should I be worried? Do I need to register myself at the police station?

You don't need to worry and you don't need to go to the police station. You don't even need to tell the hotel to register you. You don't have a visa, which sometimes confuses the hotel staff, but they just need to copy the 144 hours visa-free transit sticker or stamp. If you're really worried then just keep a copy of your bookings or receipts etc (if available).
