Chinese tourist visa from Egypt for British national?

As a British national living in Cairo I need a tourist L to visit mainland PRC next month. I have residency in Egypt, but not the 6 months required by the Chinese embassy here (my residency expires in August).
Can you suggest a solution?

Hi, 6 month resideny? I remember it was 3 month in 2009. Anywya, if yours expires in August, just have a try to get a letter from UK embassy in Cairo for this application.
