About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Is Hong Kong classified as a 'third country' under this Visa?

I want to travel from Shanghai to Hong Kong with this 72 hours free transit permit. But I want to know whether you can fly to Hong Kong under this permit, ie whether it qualifies as the 'third country'. I cannot seem to find this anywhere in the literature.

I would be grateful for a response.

Yes, HK, Macao and Taiwan are all considered as the "third region" on this regard.
