About:Chinese Embassy in Philippines

Hi..I'm going to china for 5 days only to vist my bf do I still need to apply for a tourist visa?

Yes, sure. Invitation letter from your bf is required, as well as copies of his visa and residence permit (if foreigner) or ID Card (if Chinese).
