Re-entry using residence permit

I work in china and have a residence permit that will expire in a month and a half. I have planned a holiday outside with the view of returning to collect my belongings and fly home. I will return on the 14th and my residence permit expires on the 18th, do you think there will be a problem with me re-entering so close to its expiration?

Theoretically, it is ok for you to re-enter with the valid residence permit. But one of my Philippine friend was refused entry under the same situation. In my opinion, you'd better show your ticket for leaving when passing through the immigration. BTW, may I know what passport you hold?

I have a British passport. I am actually going to hk for 4 days on the 18th before catching my flight out on the 22nd. Should I show a plane ticket and a hotel reservation?

Personally, I think it will not be a prblem if you hold British passport. The ticket back to UK on 22nd is helpful as well.
