About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

When does the clock start running?

We are from the US and arrive at Beijing airport at 6:30am from Thailand. We depart 3 days later at 2:00 in the afternoon. If we stay in the airport and rest until 2:00 on the day of arrival, will we qualify for the free entry? Is there a area to sleep in the airport. We will be traveling with our 4 children.

I am afraid you have to apply for transit G visas in advance if your stopover is longer than 72 hours.

yes, you may be refused boarding the plane by the airline if they calculate the schedule of landing and departure. You should apply for a transit G visa in advance if the stopover is longer than 72 hours.
