About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Multiple 144 Hour Clocks

If I were to land into Shanghai, spend 48 hours, fly to the Philippines for multiple days, and then return for an additional 72 hours in Shanghai, would that be allowed?

Yes, that would be allowed under the condition that your itinerary is eligible in the same way as your citizenship. Actually, in the case of eligibility, you would be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing twice. You have to know that every time you complete a transit process, the clock resets. In other words, you can start a transit process from the very beginning and there is no limit on the frequency of how many times and how often you can use this scheme.
