About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

I will be staying in shanghai for 30 hours and booked hotel do I need to pay for visa?

I have booked a hotel in shanghai and am arriving with china eastern airlines. My travel agent from student flights in Melbourne told me I would not need it. Could you please advise.
I have applied and received one in the past.

Yes, you are eligible to transit through Shanghai freely for up to 72 hours. A free stay permit will be issued upon arrival at the airport.
