About:Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka

Visa requirements for Sri Lankan national working in Dubai.

I am a Sri Lankan national holding a valid residence visa in Dubai and working for a company as well. As I had to visit the Trade Fair in China, I applied in the Chinese Consulate in Dubai but was rejected despite having provided all the necessary documents. An approval from the Chinese Govt was required as per the officer in the Consulate - this will take nearly 10 days as per them and even an express service was not available.

After this my company required me to instead visit HK Trade Fair as the visa was said to be on arrival. After having reached the check-in counter at the Dubai airport and upon submitting my passport and e-ticket, i had been told i cannot travel as I need to have a valid one to HK before arriving there. However, my colleagues who are Indians, did not have this requirement and was able to fly.

Pls advice what I need to do to get a HK and Chinese one urgently from Dubai so I can make it in time for the Trade fair.

Hi, you do need to get visa to either mainland or HK. So, please submit your application for business purpose to the consulate in Dubai again.

I did try doin that but wa not successful as they said we need to send all our documents to HK itself and await the visa to be stamped and sent back to us with 4-5 weeks.

Yes, that is true. I think you have to get it done as suggested.
