tourist L extension in China

I got the tourist L of single entry from the Canadian Chinese Embassy. It just approves to stay up to 30 days. I shall set to go to Beijing on May 13,2013 and start to travel other cities. I shall stay over 30 days so that I have to apply for an extension. I plan to apply for it in Urumqi or kunming. Can you let me know the location of application and the document I have to prepare. How many days the extension will be iussed from the application? I will stay in Urumqi for three days only. I will be in Urumqi on May 22,2013. Can I apply for extension earlier than the expire date of tourist L? I will be in Kunming on June 11,2013, just two days left before the expire date of tourist L. Is it too late to apply for extension? I shall stay in Kunming one and half days only. Can the extension be issued within one or two days?

Generally, you will be issued 30 days for an extension. You need to apply about 5 days before current L expires. And the processing of extension takes about 4 working days. You can use expedited service if necessary. In my opinion, it is better to get this done in Kunming, 2 days prior to the expiration is acceptable.
For extension itself, following documents are required:
1. Passport with current L
2. Registration Form of Temporary Residence (you can get this from your hotel or local police)
3. Visa or Residence Permit Application Form (available at PSB office)
4. A recent 2-inch photo with white or light blue background
5. Documents certifying financial support for living cost.

Thank so much for your quick reply. I make it clear. Do you mind to let me know more details of the expedited service (2 days issued ?) in Kunming and how much is the difference from the regular charge (4 days issued).
What is the work hour of PSB? Do you think to go through all the process of the application that takes one morning or more time?
Is the documents certifying financial support meant that receipt of money exchange, credit card or cash or something else?
I look forward to hearing from you very soon and then I book the transport.

Sorry, I have no idea about the expedited service fee. I also learnt that they promise to finish processing within 5 working days. Regular fee is RMB 160 for a single entry. For this L extension, identifications such As Cash, Traveler’s Checks, Drafts Or Bank Cards Calculated On the Basis Of USD 100 per day. Their working hours: 09:00－11:30, 13:00－17:00, Monday-Friday. You are suggested to visit as early as possible in the morning to avoid the crowds.
