Hi, you can take a train to Kunming first, where transfer to another train to GL city.
Personally, it is suggested to spend about 3 days in this area, including Yangshuo.1

Just got back from the region. Depending on how much you are willing to pay, you can hire a car and driver for affordable prices if you have a group. We were 4 travelers and considering the distances, it was cheaper than flying from town to town.
Worth the trip either way you go. Many Chinese tourists so trains and buses could be very crowded and I would not take some of those roads on tour buses, they are too dangerous and some drive very recklessly0
