About:Miyun District of Beijing

If I were to go cycling in the Miyun, which area would be best for scenery?

It'll just be for an overnight trip. We don't have bicycles, but have read that there are free bike rental bases, is this still available?

You are right. There are still free bike rental bases, which spread at Yunhu Resort Village, Qingjing Peak Resort, Gubeikou Hedong Village, Herb garden (Xiangcaoyuan) and Shengquan Resort. At these bases, you can rent bikes to enjoy yourseif. Also there are six bicyling routes that are arranged for tourists through which you can enjoy the most beautiful scenery.

Thanks for your reply. If I wanted to mainly see the lake plus mountains, which base would be best?
Also, which base is easiest to get to from Beijing. I understand that we have to catch the bus from Dongzhimen.

To enjoy the scenery of lake and mountains by cycling, Qingjing Peak Base should be the best chice. From the resort, you will have a enjoyable cycling route.

Yes, take bus no. 980 at Dongzhimen to Miyun Gulou Station, where you can transfer to another bus to the resort easily.

Thank you Shasha for your replies. I tried looking up Qingjing Peak Base, but couldn't really find much information on the area. Is there another name for it or a bigger town nearby? I need to find a hotel in the area to book.

Oh, it is a scenic area actually and its Chinese name is 青菁顶自然风景区.
I know there is an accommodation named Tai mei Xiang Ju (泰美乡居), where you can stay.
