day trip to gongbei china

i plan to visit gongbei from macau where i will be based.. how do i go there?what documents do i need to show.all reviews i read just starts and ends at the undergroud mall.. are there any more interesting sites and shopping areas to go to by myself. or is it more advisable to book for a day tour to get me around the area? is it difficult for a first timer to go around without a guide? thanks
