About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

I am a US citizen living in Japan.

Is it possible to mail an application for a tourist visa (with my passport and all the required documents, photos, etc.) to the Chinese embassy to get the visa? I live about 2 hours from Tokyo and would prefer to not have to take a vacation day (Mon-Fri) to go to the embassy for this.

Hi, the embassy does not accept application directly from applicants. So, you may apply through and submit your application to a local travel agency instead. You can mail application to them if you can not go in person.

Thanks, but the problem is the travel agents in Japan (at least JTB) won't provide this service unless you've bought airline tickets from them. We bought a tour package from a company in China, that included the airfare, and they can't do this for us.

Hi, you may have to try other agencies if any of them provide visa service without tour package.
