About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Fight from Seattle to Shanghai to New Delhi

The 72 hours will be counted from the moment you get your transit permits, but not the time when you land at the airport. So, you can remain in the airport from some of the time if you need. By the way 72 hours will be counted up to re-entering the airport for departure or the take off time of the flight?

I don't think so. It should be counted 3 days from the time you get free transit permit instead of when you re-enter the airport for departure or the plane takes off.

If some body gets the transit permit at 2.00 pm on June 10th 2013, that will be valid till 1:59 pm of June 13th 2013. Is that person need to re-enter the airport for next journey before 1:59 pm of June 13th 2013 or need to fly out by that time?

The person should be re-enter the airport for next journey before 2:00 pm of the 13th 2013. You can confirm this with the transit service at the Shanghai airport: 0086-21-51105100
