About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong=>Seoul=>Shanghai=>Hong Kong and boarding passes

Hello I already asked this question and I understood it should be ok (I'm French citizen) but I want to do Hong Kong => Seoul via Shanghai without leaving the airport as one flight and then Seoul => Shanghai on a day and Shanghai=>Hong Kong the day after in the evening with a different flight (I'll have 3 flights in total as a direct round trip doesn't give more than 20 hours in Shanghai) to enjoy a bit Shanghai.

Is it possible to do that without having the boarding pass for the flight Shanghai=>Hong Kong at the beginning? do we have to apply for something with the airline before landing in Shanghai or when purchasing the ticket?

I wanted to say that I'm going to book the tickets before but because I'm transiting in Shanghai with a long layover on the way back to HKG I won't have one plane ticket but two, one Seoul Shanghai and another one Shanghai Hong Kong so I'll probably have to check in in Shanghai no? but I'll have my ticket I mean the email confirmation of the eticket is that fine or would I have to figure out in Seoul before departure to get my actual boarding pass for the flight Shanghai hong kong?
I hope this is clear. Also transiting twice in Shanghai, once without leaving the airport and once leaving the airport don't cause any issue right?

Transit visa/permit is not required if you remain in the airport. For the email confirmation of e-ticket, you'd better print it out in advance. Anyway, your itinerary applies to this policy.

I am confused. According to your description, your trip should be HK-Shanghai- Seoul, Seoul-Shanghai and then Shanghai to HK again. Why did you say "boarding pass for the flight Shanghai to Hk at the beginning"? It should be the last part of your whole trip.

If you want to enjoy the 72 hours visa free transit in Shanghai, you should buy and get the air ticket from Shanghai to HK (the last part of your trip) before you board the plane from Seoul to Shanghai. When you land at Shanghai Airport, go through the 72 hours free transit channel and the officers will check if you have onward air ticket to the third country or region. Show them the air ticket from Shanghai to HK and your passport and then you can enjoy 72 hours visa free period in Shanghai.
