About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

do I qualify if I wil only be in the 3rd country for 40 minutes?

Hi, I am traveling from Taiwan (I am a US citizen with an ARC card) to BJ on the 19th, go to Macau on the 21st for 40 minutes, then back to Taiwan. Will I still be able to do the 72 hour visa free travel?
