Visa for a year+, what type should I apply for?

Hi,

I am looking at living in Beijing for 1 year or a bit more. I am from the UK and have been offered a job to help teach English for a year. I wouldn't be leaving the country during the year either.

Which visa would I need to apply for?

Thanks.

You need to apply for a Z visa since you are going to work as a teacher in China. When you arrive in China, you should apply for the Temporary Residence Permit within 30 days. It is valid for the minimum of 90 days and the maximum of 12 months. The TRP validity usually depends on how long your contract is.

I will be living in China with a chinese family and with a mother who has her own business so I'm not sure whether a contract will be involved?

Better get a contract for you. Otherwise, you may not get the temporary residence permit.
