It is a little tight. Though, if you hurry up, two hours maybe be sufficient. One more thing, are your arrival and departure airlines at the same terminal? If so, it can be easier and more time-saving. If not, you may need take the internal free shuttle bus to reach your depature terminal. Anyway, here is the general procedure of your transfer:
1: Inspection & Quarantine, Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection (you need to fill the Quarantine Declaration Form on Entry faithfully in conformity with requirements of the inspection and quarantine authorities)
2: Baggage Claim
3: Customs Inspection
4: Going through Transfer Formalities
5: Waiting & Boarding
If your transit from international to domestic is from T3, you may also have the security check after going through Transfer Formalities.

thank you very much nathalie, both my arrival ( International )and departure Domestic ) flights are with China Southern Air, so I presume i stay in the same terminal for the transfer to Beijing. ?? is this correct ?? and both tickets were bought together. Am I looking at having a smooth transfer within the 2 hours ?? regards Bob ps; I have copied down your instructions.

Hi again, Bob. As your flights are both with China Southern Airline, you just need to check at T2. The international counter is at C01-10 and the domestic counter is at F01-22 or G07-11. Just hurry up and you will a smooth transfer within 2h.

Right, I have to remind you that as your transfer is finished at T2, your transit procedure needs a little adjustment: After Inspection and Quarantine, you need to go for Customs Inspection first and then Baggage Claim. Afterwards, Going through Transfer Formalities, waiting and boarding.

thanks again nathalie, . I just read on the China Southern air travel guide that Passengers from NZ and Australia do NOT have to claim checked baggage at guangzhou, the airliine will collect, inspect and re; check-in for connecting flight. Can you confirm this ?? it would certainly make my 2 hour transfer painless. regards Bob

Yes, you are right, but this policy only applies in Guangzhou airport.
