About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

non-chinese, us passport holders, enter at Beijing and exit Hong Kong, possibility of multiple entry

My wife and I, US citizens, are planning to visit China and Hong Kong as tourists in April, 2013
1. Our planned itinerary is to enter China thrugh Beijing, go to Hong Kong from Shanghai, and 3-4 days later fly from Hong Kong to Singapore. What are the airline tickets I need to show as proofs to apply for Chinese Visa and HK entry permit?

2. What is the valid length of a multiple entry visa to China for US citizens (Non Chinese origin) ? If we plan to visit China as tourists again next year should we apply for new visas or a multiple entry one will suffice?

Hi, you need to provide your ticket from US to Beijing, and ticket from Shanghai to HK for Chinese visa application. Leaving for HK counts an exit on your Chinese visa. You are not required visa/entry permit to HK, your valid passport, hotel bookings for you 3-4 days in HK and ticket for leaving to Singapore is enough. A multiple entry visa is valid for 6 months or 12 months, that is to say you have to enter before it expires. And, it is difficult for you to get a multiple one now if you visit China for the first time. Anyway, a single entry tourist L is enough for this trip.
