Visit in changsha

Can you recommend some decent and inexpensive hotels in the downtown area? How do I go to those hotels from the airport and vice versa? Are there trains, subways or shuttle buses connecting the two? If so, where do I take them? How much is the faire and what are their operating hours (24 hours?)?
How much do taxi charges (RMB/km)? We have a small budget and any tips to help save money will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
PS: How do we visit the old residence of Mao Zedong? Where do we take bus or train and how long is the travelling time?

As for the hotels, I suggest you stay at an express hotel, which is comfortable and not that expensive. Home Inn Express Hotel and Hanting Express Hotel are both good choices. They have many branches in the city.

For convenience, you can choose a branch of the express hotels near the local railway station. From the airport, you can take airport shuttle bus to the railway station and then you can walk to your hotel. Don't worry! The shuttle bus can be easily found according to the guiding signs.

Generally, the hotels are in service for 24h. The fare is around CNY130-200 per night for a standard room.

About the taxi fare, it is CNY6 for the first 2km. For extra distance, it charges CNY1.8/km. At night, the starting fare is CNY7 and per km will charge CNY2.

To save money, I suggest you use buses more, which are very convenient.

To the Old Resident of Mao Zedong:
From Changsha, you can catch train to Shaoshan first (Only one train runs for the journey daily, departing at 06:35). Then you can easily catch a bus at Shaoshan Railway Station from 06:00 to 19:30 to the scenic area directly.

The whole journey takes you 3.5-4h.
