Visa for Hong Kong and Shenzhen

I am traveling to Hong Kong for a week in April. I would like to visit Shenzhen for a day while I am there. Do I need to apply for a Visa for either one of these places? I have a South African passport and my travel companion has a British passport. Please let me know what we need to travel there.

Hi, you both are exempted from visa to Hong Kong, but you need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance for Shenzhen. British passport holder is able to get a Shenzhen visa on arrival at Luo hu Port. For HK, you'd better prepare hotel bookings in advance.
