About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

I am flying thru Guangzhou to Nepal and am not staying longer than 24 hours at the airport

Do I still need to get a transit visa or am I entitiled toa visa exemption as I am not staying in China.

You won't need any visa for that. Even if you will exit the airport to the city, you can apply for a stay permit from the frontier inspection station at the airport.
