Hey there.I am German and currently in Shanghai, holding a 30day single-entrance tourist visa.Berlin-Shanghai 3.1.2013Shanghai-Berlin 3.2.2013 (via Helsinki, Finnair) was/is my connection.Now I want to leave China and fly to the Philippines next week. If I would return to Shanghai on 1.2. or 2.2., do I need a new regular visa or would I get the 72 hour free visa? What kind of ticket are they asking for at the immigration desk? Is a printed copy, stating name and booking number enough? Thank you for your help!

If you make Shanghai as a transit when you fly from Manila to Berlin, , the 72 hours free transit is applicable. The valid flight ticket with confirmed date and seat are required. Otherwise, you have to apply for a new visa in advance.

Dear Editha, thank you for the quick reply. I can check-in online for the flight from Shanghai to Berlin up to 36 hours in advance. Does anyone know, if the self-printed boarding pass (after online check-in) is enough or do they want to see this small boarding pass they give you at the baggage drop-desk?Just to make it save:-I have a valid passport-I will have a SELF-PRINTED boarding pass (stating name, seat, flight no.)-I will enter and leave the country via Shanghai-The transit won't take longer than 72 hours-My destination is my home country.Enough? Thank you!

Hi, this 72 hour visa free transit policy was newly released and in operation from Jan.1st 2013. To my knowledge, self-printed boarding pass is acceptable, but you'd better contact the airport in Shanghai directly. shairport.com|media for confirmation.
