Leaving the airport?

My girlfriend and I have a flight from Shanghai to Malaysia. We have a lay over at the airport in Shanghai for 10 hours. We are wondering if we can leave the airport and get lunch somewhere in Shanghai. I am a Canadian citizen living in South Korea and she is Kenyan living in South Korea. I have over six months on my Alien card and E2visa for South Korea. She has 3 months on a D2visa remaining.

Thanks,
Brad Borland

So far as I know, you are emempted visa to transit via shanghai airport and allowed to go out to the city. But for your girlfriend, she may needs to apply for a transit visa in advance if planning to leave the airport. You'd better try to confirm this with your airline.
