About:China Transit Visa

British citizen, applying for tourist visa requirments.

I have booked a flight into london to beijing, return hong kong to london, I plan to ferry across to hong kong from zhongshan, do I need to have flights booked out of mainland china or is the hong kong departure flight okay?
