About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit without visa - registering with police station within 24 hours

Is this still necessary if I will be registering at a hotel in Beijing? I thought the hotel sends the registration info to the local police bureau.

No, there is no need to register with the police station if you stay at a hotel.
