About:China Visa Exemption

transit in Guangzhou with Australian passport.

Hello, my family have a stop over in Guangzhou arriving at 11.20pm from siem reap and departing from Guangzhou again the next day at 9.30pm. This was arranged by a travel agent. We are Australian residents, will we be able to have a visa exemption? Or would there be a 72 hour exemption for Guangzhou as well?

There is no 72 hour exemption for Guangzhou, only available in Beijing and Shanghai. But as your transit in Guangzhou is less than 24 hours, you are not required transit visa. You can confirm this with your travel agency.
