Transit Without Visa

I'm flying from Vancouver-Seoul-Shanghai (Pudong) on Korean airlines and have a stopover of 18 hours before boarding a flight from Shanghai-Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia Airlines. I am planning to stay in the airport but do I need a visa to pick up my luggage? (I'm assuming I can't check my luggage straight through from Vancouver to Kuala Lumpur). Thanks

Yes, I think you need a visa for that.
