For business purpose, you must provide an invitation letter from China, issued by Duly Authorized Unit, e.g the foreign affairs office. Other general documents required are your passport, application form, photo, return ticket and hotel reservation. Application can be submitted by yourself or by others entrusted to the embassy consular office.
