Question

We have an overnight stay in Shanghai from Okinawa,  where will our check in bags go when we wait for our connecting flight to New York, USA the next day?

Well, if you had your bags checked-in through when taking your first flight, your bags will be directly transfered to New York. If not, you need to collect them at Shanghai Airport and then recheck-in.
