shanghai to taiyuan by train root & hotel

Question

What is the difference between a soft sleeper and a hard sleeper. There will be three of travelling, will we be able to book the sleeper . Plz suggest good budget hotel in Taiyuan

Hard Sleeper is open and comprises six fixed bunks, arranged as an upper, middle and lower on either side. Soft Sleeper is private compartments which are fitted out to a higher standard with 4 bunks.
