Yes, you can buy it at the Shanghai station and you may need to pay the service charge of about CNY10.

Thanks Macdonald for reply.

May I ask if this service charge of about 10 yuen is per rail ticket or per transaction?

We would arrive in Shanghai in late Oct and would be making a trip to Suzhou and Hangzhou in the early Nov. We are unsure if the availability of rail tickets is an issue during this period and thus we are thinking of buying the rail tickets the moment we reach Shanghai.

For your advice, please.

Thank you.

Hi, it is for each ticket, I think. And many trains travel between Suzhou and Hangzhou, so it is ok for you to buy it in Shanghai.
