B) how would I get there reasonably? bus/train?

C) do they travel that late?

D) fastest transport to GZ?

E) do trains travel that late at night?

ETA 22:30 it's not that late but quite late for you to take a train to Guangzhou. You can take a bus to Kowloon and there are a few affordable rooms along Nathan Road, especially at Chung King Mansion. Then take an express train tio Guangzhou East the next day that costs RMB190 (maybe in HKD too). But if you still wish to go to Shenzhen, you can take airport limo to Huanggang that opens 24 hrs, and the train from Luohu to Guangzhou Station (including East Station) is only RMB80. Staying in HK is cheaper than going to SZ.
