Chinese visa for a foreigner staying in Japan

Hello,
I am a Russian citizen staying in Nagoya, Japan until 2014 (2-year college student visa+resident card). My passport has enough pages for visas, but it expires on May 4, 2013. Is it possible for me to receive a Chinese tourist visa in Japan if I want to go to China in late December?
Thank you.

Then I advise you apply for the visa in November to make sure that there are still more than 6 months validity left. The validitiy of the visa is 3 months from the date of issue anyway.
