How to get tourist visa

Sir. I'm a Srilankan Expariate working in aviation field, in Abu Bhabi - U.A.E. When I go to submit my application to UA.E Chinese embassy, I was told U.A.E. embassy will issue only Business visa for Silankan expatriates. I'm holding free and confirm rebated Airtickes to China from Srilanka and from U.A.E respectively. Now i decided to come to Srilanka and apply there.
May I do?
Visiting to See the Great wall was my long been dream since my childhood. I have been to many countries before.

Yes, it is ok to do in Sri Lanka, but for tourism, you need to join a tour organized by a China travel agency, and enter on a group visa.

I need to know if I come to Srilanka for vacation and apply for indivdul visit / tourst visa for me to traval alone. Since I 'm entitled to previllaged airtickts, I need to get full use of them. I already have some hotel adresses in China including Central Youth Hostel. On arrival I expect to join a group tour which cater to my interests.

You can have a try to submit your application to the embassy, together with air ticket and hotel bookings. But visa officers have right to make the final decision on this issue.
