Will a scanned color copy of the invitation letter be sufficient for application?

Will a scanned color copy of the invitation letter be sufficient when applying for the Business (F) Visa?

I have planned to travel to Tokyo soon to apply, but I don't think I will receive the original letter before I go.

Hi Derek, as I know the invitation letter should be original. But this may deffer from countries. Anyway, you can have a try if you cannot receive the original.
