About:Beijing Transportation Smart Card

I am arriving Beijing from Canada on Nov 6, 2012 to take the airport express.

From Beijing Airport to the city centre (Forbidden City) is Airport Express better than the railway, and what do they cost. Are there discounts for seniors?

There is no railway from the airport to the downtown area. The airport express train can only take you to Dongzhimen. Then you need to take subway line 2 to Jianguomen and transfer to subway line 1 to Tian'anmen, Forbidden City area. It totoally costs around CNY30. The discount is only applicable for local seniors. Well, you can also choose to take the airport shuttle bus line 2 from the airport to Xidan which is close to Forbidden City. Then you can take subway line 1 or taxi there.
