About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

Does the Visa need to be good during the entire stay?

If my one year, multiple entry Visa expires on the 8th of a month, and I want to enter China the 3rd of the month, is my Visa good?

Yes, it is good. you can enter before or on the day of visa expiration and stay full eg. 30 days as duration of each entry.
